Carver’s been navigating an emotional rollercoaster for all of Chicago Fire Season 13.
Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) has been on a sobriety journey throughout Season 13 of Chicago Fire. Following his breakup with Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) in Season 12, Carver began to spiral in his personal life. After returning from an extended furlough, Carver was back together with a toxic ex-girlfriend and drinking heavily, causing him to slack off at work. After reforging his friendship with Violet and reconnecting with his 51 support group, Carver fortunately ended things with his enabling ex and fixed his act around the station. But managing his alcohol use has proven to be difficult. After attending several AA meetings and failing to find any solace in the program, Carver relapsed.
In Season 13, Episode 14, Violet confronted Carver about his inactivity in AA, leading him to do some soul-searching. Refusing to lose everything he worked hard to build, Carver took another furlough to get himself fully together and genuinely find peace.
Where was Sam Carver on Chicago Fire this week? March 5, 2025
Carver is currently on furlough.
Upon arriving for her shift and predictably failing to see Carver, Violet was curious about when the firefighter would return from his leave.
“So, no update from Carver?” Violet asked Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).
“No,” Stella explained. “No, not yet. But you know, I doubt we’ll hear anything until after he gets out of rehab.”
“Right, I just figured maybe he’d given an update on his schedule,” Violet explained. “But he probably doesn’t know yet.”
Violet Mikami is missing Carver at Firehouse 51
While Carver is gone, Firehouse 51’s go-to floater, Chippy, has taken his spot on Truck. Chippy has an affinity for metaphors, but bad ones like “the apple doesn’t fall far from the woods” or “one bad apple, poison the whole worm.” After Chippy dropped another one of his dreaded analogies in the locker room, Violet commiserated with her best friends, Lizzie Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) and Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri), about her sadness.
“I miss Carter,” Violet told them.
“Hey, Chippy is not a bad guy,” Ritter told her. “Even if he is the king of metaphors and always with apples for some reason.”
“No, I really miss Carver,” Violet confessed nervously. “Like, more than I thought I could.”
Ritter and Novak exchanged a knowing look — Violet has a boyfriend, but she’s not really thinking about him right now. Violet and Carver may have ended their romance long ago, but some mixed feelings are clearly brewing between the former flames. Amid Carver’s ongoing recovery, Violet seems to be counting the days until his return.
