In a new set image from Raegan Revord’s Instagram, she and Zoe Perry are seen rehearsing what appears to be an intense argument between Mary and Missy back at the Cooper family home. It’s unclear what episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage this sequence will be in, but it’s safe to assume that it could be airing sometime in late March to April, just based on the show’s filming schedule. The upcoming outing will mark Mary’s fourth and Missy’s third appearance in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Check out the image below:
Why Mary & Missy May Be Fighting In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
Mary & Missy Continue To Struggle After George’s Death
Despite its cancelation, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage continues Young Sheldon‘s stories, particularly regarding the fallout from George’s unexpected death. Montana Jordan and Emily Osment’s show has explored how the grief of losing the family patriarch has impacted Georgie and Mary, but it hasn’t fully tackled how it impacts Missy. Towards the end of Young Sheldon, Revord’s character found herself in a rebellious phase, which changed following a near-death experience with her dad. Considering their special bond, it’s safe to say that things haven’t been easy for Missy.
Unfortunately for Missy, she hasn’t been getting the support that she needs throughout this time, so she resorts to going back to her rebellious phase. Old Georgie said this himself in The Big Bang Theory, but the way Mary has been ignoring her daughter exacerbates the situation. Chances are that whatever it is that makes the Cooper family matriarch in the aforementioned Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode has something to do with whatever Missy has been up to — whether that’s getting another tattoo or getting suspended. Otherwise, it’s also possible that the fight is about Mary’s worsening behavior.
Our Take On Mary & Missy’s Upcoming Argument
It Has Been A Long Time Coming
It’s no secret that Mary and Missy’s relationship has been deteriorating for years. Primarily, it stems from George’s wife openly favoring Sheldon and leaving her other two kids with barely any attention. Georgie was able to find support outside of their home, while Missy developed a special bond with George. Even then, Mary’s relationship with her only daughter has remained fraught — so much so that this fight feels long-delayed.
How this is incorporated in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s narrative is unclear. With just half an hour of runtime and the McAllisters having their own stories, the spinoff sequel will not be able to really dwell on Mary and Missy’s impending argument. That said, it’s great to see that Chuck Lorre and his team are still trying to move the Coopers’ story in Medford despite Sheldon’s absence.
