Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Georgie’s (Montana Jordan) adventures don’t end just because the latter got married. And even if they do, the marriage might have provided Meemaw another partner in her numerous money-making schemes. While Georgie is focused on legally making as much money as possible, Meemaw has never stopped walking a little outside the law. In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 1, Episode 14, “A Sportsbook and a Breakup,” she returns with a new venture, still as illegal as the machines at the back of the laundromat. According to the logline below, Mandy is lured by the prospect of making a lot of money without putting in much effort and wants in on it. CBS released some images from the March 13 episode, previewing Potts’ return as Meemaw.
“Mandy finds out Meemaw runs an illegal sportsbook and decides she wants in on the action. Meanwhile, Georgie struggles to keep Mandy’s new job a secret.”
Meemaw’s Back and She’s Cooking Something
The images above show Meemaw in various places as she visits her grandson while accompanied by her boyfriend, Dale (Craig T. Nelson). She’s featured predominantly at Mandy’s place of work, where she may or may not be taking meetings for her new betting enterprise. One of her clients is Coach Wayne Wilins (Doc Farrow), who used to work with George coaching high school football. Mandy seems very interested in what Meemaw has going on and sits for a chat, definitely trying to talk Meemaw into partnering up. While she’s never run anything illegal, it can’t be that hard. One image teases success on her part as she shows Georgie a wand of cash.
Prepare for more shenanigans in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. CBS has renewed the sitcom for Season 2, teasing more stories from the Young Sheldon sequel. This comes on the heels of great viewership numbers for the series that follows the oldest Cooper sibling as he begins his life as a married man. According to Nielsen ratings and CBS’ internal data, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage averages 12.9 multiplatform viewers. It is one of the most popular CBS dramas, behind only Tracker, which scores a whopping 18 million viewers. The show recalls the creatives from The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, consisting of Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland, who serve as executive producers and writers.
