“9-1-1’s Buck and Eddie: Should Their Friendship Turn Into Romance?”

Not only does 9-1-1 do a great job of making heart-pounding (and sometimes hard-to-watch) emergencies—it also has some of our favorite relationships on TV. Just look at Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett), Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms), and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi), all of which are solid romances with characters who have overcome many challenges both individually and together.

But what it doesn’t have is a workplace romance—though we do love it when Bobby and Athena team up to solve a case—and the show could easily change that with the other two leads on the show. There have been fans who’ve wanted Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) to get together ever since Eddie showed up in the Season 2 premiere (the way Buck quickly went from hating the guy to being his biggest fan certainly helped), and we have to admit: It’s not like we didn’t see the possibility.

But should 9-1-1 go that route with Buck and Eddie? (Before we get into any of this, we should note that there’s nothing to suggest Eddie isn’t straight. That said, the same was true before Buck began exploring his sexuality in Season 7.) Could it become a strong relationship like the other major relationships on the show? Or should it stay away?

Below, we break down the pros and cons of a potential “Buddie” romance. Share your thoughts in the poll and comments section. Also, check out our other Should They/Shouldn’t They polls.
