9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 1: ‘First Shock of the Season’

9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 1 “Buzzkill” is finally around the corner, and it’s bringing a bee-nado with it! Yes, the episode famously based on the 1978 disaster movie The Swarm is coming to our screens on September 26th, and if you don’t like bees, you might want to skip this one. Or, like prepare somehow. We’re not sure how you can prepare for the amount of bees that are coming, though.

Even worse than the bees? The new Captain of the 118 that no one wanted (no, really 9-1-1 Season 7 ended, and no one understood or wanted this), Vincent Gerrard. He might end up bringing some interesting storylines, but it is going to suck to see his racist, misogynistic ass in charge of the 118. And it looks like Buck is going to have a particularly hard time dealing with Gerrard if the pictures from the first episode are any indication.

Other things to note in the pictures are Eddie telling Buck to cut it out in one particular picture (probably so he doesn’t get into more trouble with the boss) how funny everyone looks in the bee suits, Athena and Bobby looking domestic and happy, getting to see not just Maddie, but Josh, Bobby’s less than thrilled face at work, Gerrard in Eddie’s face in that other picture holding a …candy wrapper? and that one picture of Buck and Eddie finding a moment of levity even in the midst of what is probably a horrible work environment.

So yeah, 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 1 “Buzzkill” might bring bees, but it’s also bringing character drama. We know which of those two we’re here for.
