9-1-1 Season 7 Update Sparks Major Confusion Among Fans—What’s Really Going On?

It won’t be much longer until 9-1-1 fans get back in step with the folks of the 118, but they’re concerned something may look a little different this time around.

In a post uploaded on January 18, the newly-minted ABC series decided to honor the legacy of the show by uploading a sneak peek at what’s to come in season 7. In a behind-the-scenes Instagram video, actors Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, Kenneth Choi and Aisha Hinds wish their fans a “Happy 1/18 Day,” referencing the firehouse their characters work in.

“The best day of the year (after March 14, of course) ❤️‍🔥,” the caption read.

While fans were ecstatic to see the quartet finally filming after last summer’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes paused production on 9-1-1, seeing Aisha wear a captain insignia on her firefighter hat left them concerned about the status of two other important characters on the show.

“Don’t get me wrong … I adore this video, but where [are] Bobby and Athena???” one person asked on Instagram, referencing the leaders of the 118, portrayed by Peter Krause and Angela Bassett. “NOW WHY DOES HER HELMET SAY CAPTAIN 🤨🤨,” another inquired about Aisha’s protective gear.

While it’s unclear why Aisha (who plays Henrietta “Hen” Wilson) is wearing a captain’s fire helmet, fans do know that she is Bobby’s second-in-command, and takes over when he steps away from work.

As an earlier season 7 promo showed Bobby and Athena potentially in trouble after going on a cruise at the end of 9-1-1 season 6, it’s likely Hen took over as captain while the boss is away. And if the clip gives any clue on what’s bound to happen, Hen could be in the position for a little while.

Either way, marking your calendars for March 14 to see what happens!
