9-1-1 Season 7 Deleted Scene Reveals Tommy’s ‘Intentions’ With Buck
The relationship between Buck and Tommy has proven to be one of the most interesting developments on 9-1-1 in recent memory, so fans are understandably eager to see what the future holds for the new couple. And who better to interrogate Tommy about his feelings for Buck than the show’s only other same-sex couple?
ABC has shared a deleted scene from the penultimate episode of the season, in which Hen and Karen confront Tommy at the 118th’s Medal of Valor ceremony. After a brief misunderstanding over cake, they ask him point-blank whether his intentions with Buck are “honorable.”
“We’re taking it really slow,” he tells the protective mamas. “The reality is I let him set the pace and I’m just trying to keep up.”
After several sporadic appearances over the years, Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) returned to 9-1-1 in Season 7 to help rescue Bobby and Athena from a nightmare honeymoon trip. Tommy and Buck (Oliver Stark) shared their first kiss on April 4, kicking off an exciting new journey for the fan-favorite first responder.
“There have been bits and pieces over the years,” Stark told TVLine about Buck realizing and accepting that he’s bisexual. “If you look back… I think the red thread has been there all along. So to get to this moment now is really exciting, rewarding, and deserved.”
Three days after their first kiss aired, Stark responded to “fans” who were upset about Buck’s bisexual awakening, making it clear in an Instagram story: “If another character finds a new side to their sexuality and [realizes] their sexuality is unacceptable, I’m afraid you’ve missed the whole point of the show,” he wrote on April 7. “You don’t have to announce your departure.”
After a disastrous first date, Tommy accepts Buck’s invitation to Maddie’s wedding, where they accidentally reveal their relationship to the rest of the 118 with a smoky kiss. There’s sure to be more kissing when 9-1-1 returns for Season 8 this fall.
