9-1-1: Lone Star Officially Ends With Season 5 at Fox

126 has put out the final flame. TVLine has confirmed that 9-1-1: Lone Star will end with its upcoming fifth season, ending weeks of speculation that Season 5 would be the show’s swan song.

While fans will undoubtedly be disappointed by this development, it has been anticipated for quite some time. Rumors of a possible final season have been swirling since June, following the announcement that original cast member Sierra McClain would be leaving her role as a series regular. Many cast members posted vague and/or cryptic messages on social media as they wrapped up Season 5, strongly hinting that they weren’t expecting to reunite with their co-stars for a sixth season.

“From the beginning, fans have followed the heroic and incredibly moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thank you to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television—Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear—for creating one of the most thrilling action dramas in the world,” Fox President Michael Thorn said in a statement on Thursday. “Now in the show’s final season, we’re ready to give it the happy ending it deserves, complete with breathtaking rescues, insurmountable odds, and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our stellar, unparalleled cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.” According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Lone Star is not expected to move to ABC after airing on Fox, as its parent series has done before. But other 9-1-1 spinoffs are reportedly possible on ABC, with Las Vegas as a potential setting.

The cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star includes Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, Ronen Rubinstein as TK Strand, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as Mateo Chavez, Brianna Baker as Nancy Gillian, Gina Torres as Tommy Vega, and Kelsey and Skyler Yates as Tommy’s twin daughters.

The show ends its fourth season in May 2023 with the bittersweet wedding of longtime boyfriends TK and Carlos; The two-part finale begins with the shocking murder of Carlos’ father, a Texas Ranger, meaning both grooms lose a parent as they exchange vows in front of their closest friends and family members.

The fifth and final season, which will run for 12 episodes, will premiere on Monday, September 23 at 8/7c, with the series finale expected to air in early 2025.
