“9-1-1 Cast Departures Ranked: Which Beloved Characters Are Missed the Most?”

While 9-1-1: Lone Star fans are still processing the questionable explanation behind Grace’s sudden departure, it’s important to remember that she’s not the first main character we’ve had to say goodbye to.

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star have a better track record than some other TV series when it comes to cast changes, but we’ve still lost seven main cast members over the show’s combined 13 seasons, with only a handful of them making guest appearances since their departures.

For the purposes of this list, we’re only including the series’ main cast members, so don’t expect to see regular favorites like 9-1-1’s Lucy Donato (Arielle Kebbel) or Lone Star’s Iris Blake (Lyndsy Fonseca), both of whom are welcome back to our screens any time soon!

Read on to rank the characters whose absences left the biggest holes in their respective shows, then leave a comment with your own picks. If you could bring one person back to every 9-1-1 episode, who would it be?

In his four seasons as a main cast member on the 9-1-1 series, Michael and Athena’s son found himself at the center of some memorable moments, from his own kidnapping (remember that?!) to the moment a white cop pulled a gun on him after stopping Michael. When Harry reappeared in Season 7, now played by a different actor, we had high hopes for his return to Athena’s world… until that new actor landed a series regular role on the Disney+ series Goosebumps. At the very least, he could have guest-starred in the final episode with his sister. Like most moms after their kids leave home, we’ll take any visit we can get.

So much has happened since Liv Tyler’s character drove off into the Austin sunset that it’s easy to forget Michelle even existed. Certainly, Gina Torres, whose character was introduced as Michelle’s replacement in Season 2, has given a significantly more compelling performance since she first appeared on camera.
Albert is a tough case. We’re always happy to see John Harlan Kim on screen, but Chimney’s half-brother never seemed to stick around long enough to make a real place for himself—even after Kim was promoted to a regular cast member in Season 4—which lessened the impact of his full-time departure. We hoped he’d show up for Chimney and Maddie’s wedding, but he didn’t. Maybe he can make up for missing their big day by returning to Los Angeles in Season 8?
