WARNING! SPOILERS ahead for FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 22, “The Circle Game.”
FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 22, “The Circle Game,” left some questions unanswered despite wrapping up the series. FBI: Most Wanted was a character-driven spinoff of FBI, which often blended characters’ personal lives with the case they were working on. Unfortunately, the spinoff was one of the shows CBS canceled in 2025, so “The Circle Game” needed to wrap up every character’s story as well as offer one final case for the Fugitive Task Force to solve together.
FBI: Most Wanted season 6 set up several plot threads that were resolved perfectly in the finale. Most notably, Remy (Dylan McDermott) announced his retirement and that Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) would be taking his place as the new leader of the Fugitive Task Force. Each of the other characters also wrapped up their stories during the final minutes of the hour. This led to a satisfying wrap-up for the series, but some questions were left unanswered after the credits rolled.

What Happened to Barnes’ Other Job Opportunity?
It Seemed To Evaporate In Favor Of Her Leading The Fugitive Task Force
Barnes becoming the new team leader was FBI: Most Wanted’s perfect ending, and there had been widespread speculation that the procedural would end in this manner. Although Barnes sometimes butted heads with Remy, her determination to save victims and investigative abilities made her a good fit for this role. However, throughout most of the final season, Barnes was working toward taking a job in DC as a team leader, so it was confusing that she suddenly was staying in New York instead. Barnes’ DC job was likely planned before the cancellation, which would explain why it was abruptly dropped.

This sudden change in direction allowed the procedural to set up a red herring in which Remy and Barnes’ discussion in his office seemed to be about her decision to take the DC job, but actually was about Remy exploring whether she wanted to become the new head of the Fugitive Task Force. That said, it was not explained on-screen what happened to the other job opportunity, though it’s likely Barnes withdrew her name from consideration so that she could take the job with the Fugitive Task Force.

What Was The Fate of Jess La Croix’s Daughter?
While Not Strictly Necessary, It Would Have Been Nice To Catch Up

Remy was the leader of the Fugitive Task Force throughout the second half of the series, but the LaCroix family was popular, and the decision to kill off Jess (Julian McMahon) was controversial because of it. Thus, while it wasn’t necessary for plot purposes, it’s disappointing that the finale made no reference to the original family, especially Jess’ daughter, Tali, (Yaya Gosselin), who had originally been a pre-teen who butted heads with her father.
Jess’ death was written in when Julian MacMahon chose not to renew his contract with FBI: Most Wanted.
Technically, Tali’s storyline was wrapped up in 2022 when she decided to attend boarding school in Canada to be closer to her maternal grandparents. However, she should be about 17 years old now and close to graduating from high school, putting her in a different stage of life than she was in when she left. Additionally, it would have made the finale even more satisfying for Tali to return briefly, as this cameo appearance would have honored the family that was central to the first three seasons of the series.

Remy’s retirement wraps up his story, but that doesn’t mean his association with the FBI is completely over. Although Remy’s next chapter is supposed to include running a restaurant with his girlfriend, Abby (Susan Misner), and spending time with her, he might find it difficult to walk away completely. Many police dramas utilized retired personnel as consultants, and it would have been unsurprising for Remy to take this ty
