3 Blue Bloods characters may not return in season 14
We have a long season ahead with Blue Bloods season 14 delayed until 2024 due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Due to the strikes, not much is known about the show’s upcoming season, but what we do know is that the show’s core cast are all expected to return for season 14 – which is great, because We cannot bear to lose. any member of the Reagan family or their close relatives.
While we’re expecting most of the Blue Bloods to return for season 14, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some members of the show’s cast that we don’t expect to return. After all, with such a large cast and filming for season 14 having to be on a tight schedule once production begins, it may be impossible for the show to return for the next season. Next is natural.
As we look ahead to the upcoming season, let’s take a look at three characters we likely won’t see in season 14.
Will Jackie join Blue Bloods season 14?
After her departure in the third season of Blue Bloods, we honestly never expected to see Jennifer Esposito return as Detective Jackie Curatola. So when Esposito returned in the season 13 finale, fans were delighted!
Seeing Jackie on the show again after all these years was truly magical. It’s as if Esposito and Donnie Wahlberg never missed a beat as they effortlessly evoke the incredible chemistry we’ve always loved between Danny and Jackie.

Unfortunately, we don’t expect Esposito to return for another encore in season 14. Even though the show has taught us to never say never, there are no whispers of Esposito returning. again in any capacity next season.
However, we can’t completely rule out Esposito returning as Jackie now, and hopefully we haven’t seen the last of her on the show!
Will Nicky join Blue Bloods season 14?
During the first ten seasons of Blue Bloods, Sami Gayle starred as Erin’s daughter Nicky. As Reagan’s eldest grandchild, Nicky was often involved in some of the show’s key storylines, often starring alongside Frank and Erin.
As time passed and Nicky started college, her screen time on the show decreased significantly after season 10. We only saw the character once in season 11, she was MIA in season 10. 12 and only appeared in one episode last season.
With Gayle no longer a regular or recurring player on the series, chances are we won’t see much of Nicky again next season. However, there is one major factor that could open the door for her to return!
Nicky’s departure from the show actually coincided with Gayle’s preparations for college, which limited her ability to appear on the show. Now that Gayle has officially graduated and returned to New York, it’s possible that the writers could find a way to bring her back into action more regularly.
Will Jack join Blue Bloods season 14?
Speaking of Reagan family members who we’re not 100% sure we’ll see again next season, there’s Tony Terraciano, who has played Jack Reagan throughout the show since its debut.
Like co-star Sami Gayle, Terraciano’s character was written out of the show in recent seasons as Jack headed off to college. This storyline came about because Terraciano started college in the real world and his class schedule kept him from filming the show.
Terraciano’s role in the series began to diminish in season 9, and in the following seasons, we only saw Jack appear in a handful of episodes. Because of this, it seems safe to assume that we probably won’t see Jack at Sunday dinner again for most, if not all of season 13, since Terraciano is still in school.
He has managed to appear in at least one episode per season, so here’s hoping that we’ll get at least one episode with Jack next season. However, due to production delays, it remains unclear how the updated filming schedule will accommodate Terraciano’s school and whether the writers will be able to return to Jack in season 14.
