26% of Chicago Fire fans wish the couple had more screen time

The original series that kicked off NBC’s hugely successful franchise, “Chicago Fire,” is still going strong in 2021, with Season 10 of the show premiering on September 22, 2021. No one has to worry about Season 11, as NBC renewed the show for Seasons 9, 10, and 11 in February 2020 (via The Futon Critic). Created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, with executive producer Dick Wolf, “Chicago Fire” began in 2012 and stars Jesse Spencer as Captain Matthew Casey, Taylor Kinney as Lieutenant Kelly Severide, David Eigenberg as Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann, Eamonn Walker as Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden, Christian Stolte as Senior Firefighter Randall “Mouch” McHolland and many others have come and gone over the years.

With so many plots and so many characters, the first 11 seasons of “Chicago Fire” so far have portrayed a long and winding story of people going through important milestones in their lives, facing with trauma, love, etc. But the show is still limited by the length of its episodes and seasons, causing some characters and their storylines – especially romance – to take a backseat to others. Recently, “Chicago Fire” fans responded to a poll about which couple from the series deserved more airtime and had a clear answer.

Chicago Fire fans want more Mouch and Trudy

A “Chicago Fire” fan on Reddit with the username shiranav asked fellow fans about “the couple needing more screen time in Season 10.” Allowing people to vote in a multi-choice poll, with other options explored in the comments section, there was a couple that ended up winning by quite a large margin. With a total of 254 votes, Mouch and Trudy (Amy Morton) won with 67 votes. That puts them 20 votes higher than the next top choice, which is Boden and Donna (Melissa Ponzio). Outside of the crossover, Mouch is only a “Chicago Fire” character, while Sergeant Trudy Platt is a prominent character in both “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”, working as a desk sergeant at the 21st District. Mouch and Trudy first met in Season 2 of “Chicago Fire”, in the episode titled “Real Never Waits”, which was the season finale. The couple connected at Boden’s wedding to Donna and quickly bonded, happily marrying in Season 4.

Mouch and Trudy’s romance is straightforward and sweet, and both characters are very happy. For some fans, this is why they need more introductions, as u/CSMom74 commented in the poll, “I choose Trudy/Mouch because they’re both funny. Those who remain They’re all boring relationships.” With the usual serious nature of “Chicago Fire”, Mouch and Trudy bring many bright, humorous moments to offset the darkness. Along with that, the couple has very little drama, in stark contrast to the many ups and downs in the relationship around them. Overall, fans clearly think that Mouch and Trudy should appear more in “Chicago Fire” Season 10 and beyond.
