Blue Bloods fans are proving their dedication to Tom Selleck’s hit police drama and are sending the recently concluded series up the streaming charts. A spin-off with Donnie Wahlberg will arrive later this year.
Per FlixPatrol and as of July 7, Blue Bloods is +1 on the Paramount+ Top 10 in the United States chart, reaching the #9 spot. It’s doing even better around the world, where Blue Bloods is charting in 25 different countries and has an average ranking of 5.2. The series focuses on the fictional Reagan family living in New York City and working in law enforcement, with Selleck starring as the family patriarch.
Blue Bloods premiered on CBS in 2010 and ran for 14 seasons and 293 episodes during its lengthy run. In addition to Selleck, the show’s main cast included Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes and Len Cariou, who appeared in all 14 seasons of the show. Other main cast members include Amy Carlson, Sami Gayle, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray.
Over the years, Blue Bloods has been largely well-received by fans and critics, with ratings remaining steady for the first seven seasons. From Season 8 and onwards, ratings eventually began to decline, and in 2023 it was announced that the show’s 14th season will be its last. The series finale of Blue Bloods aired on Dec. 13, 2024, but fans didn’t have to wait too long to learn that the franchise still had more life left in it.
In February, CBS announced it had ordered a spinoff, Boston Blue, which would take over Blue Bloods’ time slot in its fall programming. Donnie Wahlberg returns to reprise his role as Danny Reagan and also serves as an executive producer for the new series. Boston Blue will spotlight Danny’s journey in the Boston Police Department, with other cast members including Sonequa Martin-Green, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, Gloria Reuben and Marcus Scribner.
Wahlberg Teases Potential Family Reunion in Boston Blue
Blue Bloods’ continued streaming dominance months after its series finale proves that fans are still enamored with the series’ story, and while Donnie Wahlberg’s spin-off won’t feature many of the original cast, the actor did recently hint that a family reunion may be in store for the show’s future. “New York and Boston are really close. They’re not that far apart,” Wahlberg teased when asked if Tom Selleck’s character might have a guest appearance.
“You covered a lot of possible ways for people to drop in on us,” Wahlberg added in response to whether or not these character interactions might include in-person connections or even FaceTime calls. He went on to talk about Danny’s motivation for heading out on his own. “As family-oriented as Danny is, he’s also always marching to the beat of his own drum. I think those two things can be true at the same time.”
Blue Bloods is now streaming on Paramount+. Boston Blue is set to premiere on CBS in Fall 2025.
